Description

Offered for your consideration is a vintage CROSS Century classic ballpoint pen and pencil set, USA-made c.1988. The pen and pencil feature chrome-plated base metal caps and barrels with tasteful longitudinal striations and black plastic end trim cones. So, please see the large photos that I’ve taken and read the remaining description to decide if this CROSS set should be yours. This CROSS pen and pencil are in clean, good condition. The pen measures 5 3/16” long x 5/16” at widest and the pencil is just a bit longer at 5¼”. There are no deep scratches to the shiny chromed surfaces, just a tiny ding on the side of the pencil’s cap and some light usage marks on both from the years. Plus, both clips rest tightly upon their respective caps with no gaps, and the black decorative ends are in great shape. Overall, this CROSS set presents quite well. What’s more, the pen’s mechanism works smoothly, without fail, turning the barrel to extend the point and turning in opposite direction to retract. The pen is still writing, and, when it stops, CROSS refills can be found in abundance on eBay. In addition, the pencil employs CROSS’ modern “indexing” design where a partial barrel turn extends the 0.5mm lead in known increments, and retraction, when needed, requires a manual upward push of the lead with barrel held in the advance position. Plus, the eraser appears unused, but is likely too stiff from age to be effective, and there are a couple sticks of spare lead in the customary recess as pictured. Lastly, the pen and pencil came into my possession in the pictured CROSS box, but I’m not sure that it’s original to them. As pictured and described, this CROSS Century pen and pencil set is offered at a competitive price.
